If you’re looking for some rustic DIY wedding inspiration, you are in the right place! Britney and Justin’s summer wedding was straight out of a Pinterest board and came to life beautifully for a couple so deserving of it.

About the Couple

Britney and Justin are a self-proclaimed modern love story – aka, they met on Tinder! BUT they both bailed on their first date. When they finally did meet up, ice cream and mini golf turned into that plus dinner and a drive to the ocean.

And it was on that very same beach years later when Justin proposed to Britney at sunrise. How cute are they?! They decided to plan a casual wedding with a smaller guest list to be able to savor the day and enjoy everyone’s company. And when COVID hit, they didn’t have to change a thing.

Their Dream Backyard Wedding

Their wedding day began with threats of thunderstorms…ALL DAY. So I came prepared with clear umbrellas and Ziploc bags for my cameras. But when I arrived, the skies were still clear. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best!

I started by capturing Britney, her mom, sister and their flower girl Ava getting ready in the house, as well as Britney’s details like her dress, flowers, rings, etc. I just loved their invitation, which featured a photo from our engagement session!

Then it was time for Britney and Justin’s first look. We met at a field down the road from the house. It was a perfect spot for such an emotional moment, and gave us lots of space for their portraits directly after.

Their ceremony took place just outside the house. These two said “I do” under a birch arbor, exchanging vows, smiles and a few tears! We captured their family portraits and few more photos of the two of them in front of some really cool pine trees in the backyard. Since we did an engagement session, these two knew exactly what to do and were so great in front of the camera!

Their cocktail hour and reception under the tent was so magical. There was corn hole, cupcakes from Queen City Cupcakes  and signage made by the couple themselves! Fun fact, Britney and Justin run Your Rustic Home and design custom signage for other couples getting married! So I made sure to grab lots of photos of their work.

Britney, Justin and their guests danced their way through the evening and it was such a blast celebrating with them all. It is always so nice to be invited as part of the wedding experience and welcomed with open arms. AND it didn’t rain the whole day!

Wedding Advice from the Couple

Britney and Justin’s advice for others getting married?

“Be true to what YOU want! Don’t give in to the pressure to follow certain traditions because they’re just that. We cut out things like a cake cutting and garter toss because it just didn’t feel like anything we would want to do! Sure we had family members question us, but in the end it is what you want for your special day!”
