In 2016, Brigid and Rick met on OkCupid…but Brigid foolishly turned him down at the time. Thank god she gave him a second chance! After their first date, they both knew they had found something special.

Rick proposed at the Basin on a weekend getaway up north – on his grandparents’ wedding anniversary! A few months later I got to meet them and we got to capture their engagement session in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire – and it quickly became one of my favorites!

Planning a Winter Wedding

Even before COVID hit, a lot of work went into planning their day. They wanted a timeless and classic feel with a modern twist. Their colors of gold and ivory kept a timeless vintage vibe, but they also wanted to implement bright pops of their favorite colors and handmade DIY eco-friendly centerpieces.

While they did have to make some compromises on their day due to the pandemic, they always chose to focus on one thing: each other.

Wedding Advice from Brigid and Rick

“There are going to be things you have to decide on that seem like a huge deal but aren’t, and that’s different for everyone…And of course, staying focused on the next day is a big big help for me personally. No matter what comes up for our wedding, the next day, I’ll wake up already married to him, for the first time, and we get to start the real adventure – the rest of our lives! THAT’S the best part.”
