June weddings on Cape Cod are synonymous with sunshine, gentle sea breezes, and the scent of salt in the air. But sometimes, nature decides to add its own twist to the festivities. Such was the case for Lea and Ryan’s June wedding at the Dennis Inn – but thankfully we avoided the storm and ended up with the most gorgeous day to remember!
New York Couple Marries on the Cape
Lea and Ryan met in college! Together they live in New York City and Ryan actually proposed by planning a day in their Brooklyn neighborhood!
They decided to plan a Cape Cod wedding because Ryan grew up visiting his grandparents there. It was also where his family hosts their annual lobster fest, where Lea met his family for the first time! Being on the Cape for their big day just made sense.
June Wedding Day at the Dennis Inn
As for me, I decided to arrive to the venue early on the day of so I could get acquainted! Immediately, I knew I loved the quaint and historic charm of the property. It was incredible being so close to the ocean!
I first paid a visit to Lea and her bridesmaids getting ready in the house. I photographed her details before heading to visit Ryan and his groomsmen at a nearby AirBnB, featuring their pup, Daphne!
Back at the inn we got ready for their first look and private vows. By now, the storm had passed and it looked like we were in the clear for an outdoor ceremony, so spirits were high!
Lea and Ryan chose to see each other in the backyard by the ceremony space and exchange words privately before we did their portraits. I loved exploring the grounds with these two and their wedding party!
Their ceremony took place in the backyard among the pool and lots of fresh greenery. I loved the florals so much! Their ceremony was sweet and featured several readings from family members. Then we headed to cocktail hour at the front of the house!
Upscale House Party
When Lea first reached out to me, this is how she described the vibe of her day and it could not have been more true. We spent the late afternoon in the sun with drinks and snacks before starting the reception and eventually heading into the house where the real party began, featuring 2Funky!
I just loved this day and had so much fun getting creative, especially with 35mm film! Scroll to the end to see a few of my favorite images on film.
Lea and Ryan say…
“Nina is the absolute best there is! We hired her for our wedding back in June in Cape Cod, and it was the best decision we made. She was so communicative and helpful throughout the entire process. I usually hate being in front of the camera and my husband hates taking lots of photos, but Nina kept us relaxed and we ended up having so much fun. She also did an amazing job capturing special candid moments that I know will be photos that we cherish for the rest of our lives. To top it all off, two days after the wedding we had about 75 “sneak peaks” to look through and they were AMAZING. Thank you, Nina!!”
