There is so much to love about a Glen Magna Farms wedding. Between the gardens, the historic estate, and the countless photo spots throughout the property, the whole venue has a romantic, timeless atmosphere that still feels incredibly personal.

As a Boston wedding photographer serving couples throughout New England, I love documenting celebrations that prioritize connection, intentional details, and those genuine moments you want to remember forever. You can learn more about my Boston wedding photography experience here.

My goal on a wedding day is always to help my couples relax, be present, and enjoy every moment together. Abbie and Kevin’s Glen Magna Farms wedding was full of exactly those kinds of moments.

High School Sweethearts Who Built a Life Together

Abbie and Kevin’s story began in high school, where they started dating after first becoming friends. Their relationship weathered years of long distance while Kevin attended school in New York and Abbie studied in Maryland.

They’ll both tell you they wouldn’t necessarily recommend long distance, but it helped them grow individually and ultimately strengthened their relationship.

After graduation, they reunited in New York before moving to Boston together, where they have built their life ever since.

Kevin proposed in 2022 on the back deck of their apartment, a place that held special meaning after spending much of the pandemic there together. He incorporated the diamond from his grandmother’s engagement ring into Abbie’s ring and added an engraved message inside the band so they would always remember its family connection.

After twelve years together, it was a proposal that surprised absolutely no one and meant everything!

What I love about their story is that it began long before the wedding day itself. I always encourage couples to document this season, which is why I love offering engagement photography sessions in Boston and throughout New England.

Why They Chose a Glen Magna Farms Wedding

The couple considered getting married in New York, where they both grew up, or Massachusetts, where they now live.

As soon as they visited Glen Magna Farms, they knew they had found the place! Abbie loves plants, and they could immediately picture themselves standing in the gorgeous gardens surrounded by their favorite people, and honestly, as a plant lover myself, I understand why!

As a graphic designer, Abbie designed their invitations, signage, and paper goods herself. She even used handmade paper she created in college for the seating chart and table numbers. During their long engagement, she collected antique frames, candlesticks, and vintage pieces that became part of the reception decor.

As a fellow creative, I was honestly obsessed with all of these details. She truly knocked it out of the park!

They also incorporated another meaningful tradition: collecting coasters from breweries and bars they visit together. Custom coasters became part of their wedding day for guests to enjoy.

And because Kevin grew up hearing stories about the live band from his parents’ wedding, finding the perfect band was a major priority.

Every little detail felt intentional, personal, and so very Abbie and Kevin.

Getting Ready at Glen Magna Farms

As for me, one of my favorite parts of a Glen Magna Farms wedding is the getting-ready spaces.

Both Abbie and Kevin spent the morning onsite in separate rooms filled with historic charm and beautiful natural light.

The soft window light makes these rooms especially perfect for portraits and detail photographs.

Before the day even officially began, I spent time photographing their invitations, heirloom details, and all of the incredible paper goods Abbie designed herself.

Glen Magna Farms Wedding Photography Spots

One thing couples quickly discover is just how many incredible locations exist for Glen Magna Farms wedding photography.

The property is huge, which means portraits can look completely different depending on the time of day and location.

Some of my favorite features include:

The large old tree on the property

The stunning pillars surrounding the ceremony site

Historic statues and garden pathways

Seasonal flowers throughout the grounds

The beautiful library inside the mansion

This venue offers so many possibilities, which means working with a photographer who knows the property can make a big difference. Prioritizing locations based on lighting and timing helps couples get the best Glen Magna Farms photos without feeling rushed.

A Golden Hour Ceremony

Abbie and Kevin chose to do a first look before the ceremony, which gave us plenty of time for portraits and allowed them to spend more time enjoying cocktail hour with family and friends afterward.

Their ceremony was drenched in the most gorgeous golden hour light. As a photographer, I dream about this kind of light! The gardens glowed, the trees softened the sun, and every moment felt warm and romantic.

Afterwards, everyone headed to the tent for a reception that felt elegant, relaxed, and so much fun.

I also got to shoot some film throughout the day, which is always one of my favorite ways to document weddings. Some of my absolute favorite images from this wedding ended up being on film!

Glen Magna Farms Wedding Rain Plans

One question couples often ask is about Glen Magna Farms wedding rain plans. While the gardens are truly the star of the property, the venue does offer options for inclement weather.

Couples can rent a backup ceremony tent to help the celebration continue smoothly if rain is in the forecast. The historic mansion also provides beautiful indoor spaces for getting ready and portraits, including the charming library and elegant interiors.

Even on a rainy day, there are still plenty of opportunities for timeless photographs throughout the property.

Having a photographer who knows the venue can help prioritize portrait locations and make the most of every part of the day, regardless of the weather.
