A surprise proposal requires a LOT of planning! Luckily, Dan being an immense planner, he had done his research before he reached out to me. He was nervous, but more than ready to ask Lorena to marry him and decided he wanted to secretly capture the moment. So he reached out to me and we started scheming! Read on to find out how we pulled off this surprise proposal in the middle of Boston Public Garden.

Planning and Visiting the Location

Before the proposal was to take place, we met at the garden to pick out the perfect spot (Lorena was told he was on an evening run). Dan wanted a background that screamed “Boston” as work had brought the happy couple Bean Town just two months prior to the special date! After Dan took about 5 laps around the pond on bike (again this guy is quite the planner), we decided to stage the scene in front of the bridge in the middle of the park.

The Big Day

Before Dan and Lorena showed up I got in position and waited for them to arrive! The anticipation was killing me but I tried to kill time by people watching in my favorite city.
When the two arrived we had to stall a little bit because a group of people decided to stand right in the spot we had planned on! A perfect example of things just happening, no matter how much you plan! But once they left, the two made their way over to the water. Dan told Lorena he wanted to “see if there were fish” and bent down, which was my signal to get ready. He got down on one knee and popped the question!

And of course she said yes! The crowds cheered as they kissed and celebrated with champagne. After the proposal I popped out to introduce myself and the three of us had a great time walking all over the park to take some portraits. Lorena has always loved seeing professional couples photos, and often hinted that it was something she would love to do someday. So needless to say, by getting engaged to the love of her life and having her long awaited couples shoot with Dan, Lorena had a fantastic day!

We Pulled it Off!

It was such a joy witnessing this moment and giving Dan and Lorena their time in the spotlight. I am so happy for them and wishing them all the best with their wedding planning! Scroll down to see some of my favorite shots from the evening!

(Also – One of Dan’s hobbies is running a vacation rental business including properties on Anna Maria Island, on the Gulf Coast of Florida: Dan’s Florida Condos! Check him out!)
